Raising the RoofWith an infuriating mother a friend who's permanently pregnant a neurotic sister on the verge of a nervous breakdown Raising the roof started out as a 15 for me I didn’t really enjoy it; I didn’t like the main character having found her annoying and brainless However since I always finish books I continued on and found myself enjoying it slightlyThe narrative is not complex and very easy reading and as such you can easily finish it in a day It is funny in some places and I did want to know what was going to happen to Cari Nevertheless I still found her immensely annoying She seemed stupid and incapable of dealing with life She sticks her head in the sand is a bad daughter friend and sister There were however glimmers of hope with Ben and Cari’s mother who seemed to be the only ones with their heads screwed on Structurally there were also issues The random appearance of Guy into her life was just bizarre and I really don’t understand where that came from Then just as uickly as he entered her life he was written out again so I wasn’t uite sure why he was even put in Also every few chapters would start with a short paragraph in italics which seemed to be in some ways philosophical but it wasn’t needed at allOverall it was your standard chick lit book with girl crisis happy ending but I still found it compulsive reading after the first couple of chapters and it grew on me
